The treasurer reviewed the budget and we are in the black!
The auction is March 10th! Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite via the JBBP website. There are 50 spots available for childcare and you can sign up now for childcare when you get your tickets online. We are currently soliciting and collecting donations. Everyone should have received an auction packet with donation form. Donations need to be received by March 2. Bring cash for bar, cash and carry and Jen-Ken-Po!
Cherry Blossom Festival is coming in April. If you can help coordinate please email michi Toki at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tentatively, popcorn will be popped the weeknd of April 7th and 8th and 14th and 15th. Booth sales will be the weekends of April 14-15 and 21-22 and the parade will be on Sunday APril 22nd.
Teacher report: Oshogatsu went well despite being rushed to accommodate the 5th grade camping trip. We still need more parents to volunteer for Seiko Gakuen home stay. 7 more! Komi Hata is parent coordinator: Since the home stay coincides with 4th grade camping trip and first weekend of spring break some families cannot host. However, we may be able to work out some creative solutions. Orientation for families will be February 21, 22, or 23. On March 4th, three English only students and three Japanese speaking 5th graders will participate in the Bay Area for Speech Taikai.
There are several Day of Remembrance events happening over the next few weeks. The day of Remembrance is a at the Kabuki from Sunday 18th 2-4. Nichi Bei Internment films on Saturday Feb 24th at New People Cinema 10-8. https://www.nichibei.org/films-of-remembrance/.
